Well humans are still a part of this nature system so the instinct for survival would be great so I will definitely care if we are goign to be extinct

If we're all gonna die from something like a giant comet crashing in on the Earth or something, thats one thing.

Maybe we could do something but if we went extinct, it would really depend, did we do something to cause our extinction by virtue of stupidity or malice or were we just wiped out by a natural event.
Either way it's depressing but if we do it to ourselves, we kinda got what we deserved.
It's the same if you ask the opposite question, if in 1000 years humanity is spread among the stars, we can feel at least some small accompishment at having NOT wiped ourselves out before leaving Earth.
Either way evolution will have the last word anyway.

Of course. Very few people want to die. If there was a giant asteroid about to hit the Earth, there would be a lot of unhappy people. They would do everything in their power to survive.
Most people would not accept it calmly and lay down to die. Some would pray, some would riot or try to run away to the mountains or deep under ground. Human beings want to live. It's simple.

Mankind has an immortal soul so even if we go 'extinct' on the planet earth we have other places to live so I never worry about it.
