I would start flossing my teeth on a regular basis. Buy a pack of GUM flossers. They're dark-green, and they're really nice and easy to use; they're like $3.25. The first few times it might feel uncomfortable, but your teeth get used to it very easily, and you'll notice a difference. Try to floss every 2-3 days.

Get some Listerine too. A bottle of generic is like $1.67 at Wal-Mart. Use it once a day, or as needed. It enhances the cleanliness of your mouth by killing germs around the gum line.

There are many reasons for gums to bleed but mainly (and probably you have a oral hygiene problem you may not brush PROPERLY or you may need to use floss often) you should see a dentist because it may get worse or can be one of the symptoms of something you can't even imagine. Hearth problem, genetic problem. You don't need to go to a periodontist directly. yes they are the experts but costs much. It could be just because of improper brushing method, lack of a proper diet etc.) good luck with it.

There is a possibility that the bleeding is caused by gum disease. But it could also be caused by soft tissue due to inadequate brushing, and it'll be enhanced by eating sharp or hard foods (like potato chips). If you have not been brushing regularly and have not been reaching the gum line, the cause is likely due to lack of proper brushing. Alcohol based mouthwash and gum line brushing can strengthen gums if the problem is not gum severe disease. In any case, you should see a dental professional who can accurately diagnose your problem and rule out gum disease.

I agree with vader. Until you make an appointment, use Listerene twice a day. It is an anticeptic and will help the smell and disease. Also, I would very gently floss with plaquers before the listerene. Plaquers are better than regular floss because you have more control. Also, you are brushing too hard, which just makes things worse.

You need to go see a dentist right away about this. Bleeding gums is a sign that something is seriously wrong.

You have gum disease. If you cant afford listerine get a bottle of 3% peroxide ,mix one tsp water and 1 tsp peroxide, swish with it twice a day, dont worry about swallowing it,its perfectly safe.It will foam up in your mouth, just rinse after a minute or so.

Not good. Please, go see a periodontist - a specialist in gum diseases. If you don't have this taken care of, you may (and I don't mean to alarm you) wind up losing all your teeth.

Good luck.
