Fat retains water, so the more fat you have, the more water you have. therefore if you burn a pound of fat with 3500 calories, you lose additional weight from the water retention associated with it.
This confusion arises from the fact that the calories needed to burn fat are determined from a bomb calorimeter, a device that literally burns the fat and measures the energy that way. therefore 3500 calories may be enough to burn a pound of fat, but less calories would be needed to lose that much overall "weight".
Additionally, 2500 calories a day is a pretty rough estimate, and this varies from person to person. If someone is trying to lose weight they will burn considerably more than this.

I don't know if you can lose it in a day but there have been days where say, I haven't eaten a lot and then weighed the next day and have been a pound or two lighter. Also if you weigh in the evening and then weigh the morning after you are generally one or two pounds lighter! Ive lost a stone in a month, eating healthily and exercising and have dropped a dress size, but assume it would be possible in two weeks. All depends on where you lose the weight from and how it affects your body.

if you dont eat anything at all or drink water the whole day and do a lot of exercise or manual work, it possible to lose 1 pound a day if you are very fat or even obese,...i.e. you are way over the healthy limit

I like to call it the starvation diet, it seems to work well for me. Try and burn more calories then you consume and you will definetelly lose weight.

It is possible but generally not recommended by doctors. Weight gain, to be permanent, needs to be done slowly and under a doctor's care (if it's a large amount). Patience and discipline are key, not speed...
A lot of 'rapid weight loss' ends up being water weight, which is totally misleading.

dont stop eating ...for the love of god !
if you stop eating your body thinks you are starving so what you do eat it will store more fat. eat sensible. drink water and exersise, if you are big you will lose alot at first then it will level out.there is now quick way .....no pill.....no majic.
what happens is you get a week person and tell them that if thay eat crisps with there eyes shut thay wont put weight on ,thay belive it . then thay get on the net and tell everyone and befor you know whats happened everyone is eating with there eyes shut.....people !!!!!!!!!!!

you could never lose a pound in a day (apart from the pound from your purse on anything that promises you could lose a pound in a day) if you did lose a pound in a day you would only put it back on when you finished that certain fad diet.
