Good day. Just buy The Windows XP Professional Setup CD. Most companies recommend to professional instead of the home edition. Don't buy the upgrade CD cause in upgrade cds, it will only install XP when it has a previous operating system on it. That is yur case but what happens when u upgrade to XP and a virus hits for example? whats yur position? so buy the whole package. Where it can launch before windows startup etc. Laterz!

Before you do something that you will regret, Run the compatiblity check feature on the XP disk to tell you what software on your computer that will run or not on XP. Especially the hardware like your modem, ethernet card, etc. A incredible amout software and hard ware won't run on XP. If you have less than 256 MB of ram (don't bother). Although XP needs 128 anything less than 256 will propell your computer into Mach 2 Hyper turtle speed or simply revert it to 233 mhz speed especially now that most XP programs eat RAM as a snack. If your a gamer don't even go there. Your games would play like dial-up. However besides that insert your XP (Full or Upgrade edition ) into your computer after Windows 2000 is already up and running and it will guide you from there.

You can perform an upgrade from 2000 to XP, just buy the Upgrade version of XP. It is really best to just start with a fresh install, but if you don't want to format, just go with the upgrade.

First you will probably need to install more memory it will take 128MB to operate XP Alone the rest of the software security, Microsoft, photo editing, stuff plus your file and photos it takes a lot. I recommend you upgrade to at least 512MB gust to make thing run without locking up the system or even 1GIG for holding photos.
