This situation in Iraq is all in what you want to believe. I don't think the Iraqi's lives are better now than under Saddam. Their cities are in shambles. The have very little clean drinking water. Electricity only a couple of hrs. a day. Caught in the middle of a religious war & the American soldiers. Very few doctors, most have left the country. Hospitals have been destroyed. To believe Iraq is an ally on the war on terror. That was one of the reasons the great "unite-er invaded Iraq, they were a terrorist nation. Their government has not accomplished a dam thing. After 3 years of "training" Iraqi troops they STILL are not ready. Our soldiers train 3 months & then shipped to Iraq. FOR 15 MONTHS! My own feelings; the Iraqi hate us. They are taking advantage of the naivety of bush. They know they are depleting the military of the U.S. They know they are breaking the financial back of the U.S. This war between Christians & muslims has been going on for hundreds of years. That is exactly what is happening now, with one little side bar, OIL.

1.) US has never bought Iraqi oil, but I wish we would just take it to help pay for the war.
2) Why not. Who want to live in a nation were if you speak out against the leader you get killed.
3) Again why not, seems like a good way to protect ourselves
4)It has already been destabilized for 1000+ years
5) We already have a way to strike Iran if we wanted
6) Israel does not need our protection.

Doesn't cover the main objective but it helps with the side questions

To follow what their civilian bosses want them to accomplish. Don't you understand that the military follows orders just like everyone else. The problem is that their civilian bosses had one objective to start and due to the "blowing in the wind" they have changed their minds several times and now don't have a clue to what they want to accomplish except CYA. You can bet that it will be th President or his military leaders that will take the blame for the blunder that they have made in Iraq, but it is just as much the blame of the other civilian leaders, including some politicians.

First, we wanted to rid Saddam of WMDs. Looked but didn't find them MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Then, we wanted to rid Iraq of the 'hated' dictator and all around bad guy Saddam MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Then, we wanted them to have a constitution. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Then, we wanted them to have free & fair elections MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Then, we wanted them to hold parlimententary elections and hold parliment. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

I would love to hear what a tangible, measurable, attainable goal is in Iraq. Too many are dying (American, cololition, Iraq civilians) for no goal that I have heard the administration articulate.
