Please don't stone me. I have heard something disturbing and I just wanted you to say whether it is true or false and to give you a chance to explain and defend yourselves if you want to.
I have heard that it is part of the Islam religion to kill all infidels. That one of Islam's goals is a world without them. I am a westerner and considered an infidel to Islam. Do you really want to destroy us? I sincerely want to know if this is true.
No angry comments please, and people who aren't Muslim, no insulting them please.

Fred L - You make a good point about people being different but that is why I asked if it was part of what the "religion" teaches, not just what this one or that one thinks.

Ronin is quoting from your own Koran. It is there in black and white that followers of Islam are supposed to kill infidels! Is this out of context or something?? Is this only for the dark ages or something like that???

To kill all trouble making and God fighting individuals, whether that is 'believers' or disbelievers or non believers.
Non-believers are unharmed IF they behave nicely.

In Western Media, Muslims are portrayed to have this ideology; however I strongly want to say this is not the case. The Koran preaches the same fundamental teachings as the Bible and Torah. If we look back at history, during the time of the Crusades when Christians killed anyone that wasn't one of them, one could ask the same question, do Christians kill all non believers, the answer is NO it is the same answer for Muslims as well. In any religion there are miss guided people that pray on weak minded people. Moreover, because of repression, lack of education, huge disparity, people look for excuses, and leaders some times exploit this in order to gain power.

Since you want to know, let me quote from the Koran itself. I'm giving you the Chapter and verse numbers so that you can go check them out in the Google Search by Typing in "Koran and the numbers and hitting "Go".. This is the real McCoy.
Muslims must fight until their opponents submit to Islam (surah 9:29).
Resisting Islam is punished by death, crucifixion or the cutting off of the hands and feet (surah 5:33).
A Muslim must not take a Jew or a a Christian for a friend (surah 5:51).
Give firmness to the believers and instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers. Smite them above their necks and smite the fingertips off them.(Sura 8.12)
When the sacred months have passed, kill the idolaters where ever you find them.(Sura 9.5)
When you encounter the unbelievers, Strike off their heads. Until you have made a wide slaughter among them tie up the remaining captives.(Sura 47.4)

Oh, by the way, let's ask these "Peaceful" people why do the Sunnis kill the Shias? They are both Muslims, aren't they? Why do they kill and persecute the Baha'is, the Sufis, The Zaidis, The Ismaelis, the Kurds and so on?
Oh, and by the way, to the dirty guy who asked have you ever heard of the Prophet killing anybody, lemme ask if he knows about the beni al-Nadir Tribe and their Princess Saffiyah? Mohammad massacred the whole Tribe himself with his brigade and married the 16 year old girl. Doesn't he know about the four apostates [Muslims leaving Islam] whom Mohammad personally beheaded?

You could have one spouse in Islam except for a few intent there's a scarcity of guys. Muslims were mis-making use of the scriptures to have as much as 4 other halves with out that contextual situation mentioned within the scriptures of there being scarcity of guys. just because you are a westerner doesn't mean you're an infidel. but anyway i have never heard that our prophet Muhammed(pbuh) ever killed or stoned any1 to death just because they were infidel or just because they had left Islam.
he would talk to them and guide them and try to tell them the truth. i'm a muslim and i woulnt ever kill an infident or westerner, talking to a person is the greatest thing to do.
but no one really knows since people say different stuff and they don't act like each other and they all say that they are great muslims..... so it's hard.

yes, i know there's many rumours about muslim,
no matter what you've already heard...notice me this one...
we never get order to kill people,
Islam is a religion based on peace,,,then if there's few groups that act so rude and bringing Islam name...then it's wrong. In our holy book, Al-Qur'an...Our God never ask us to kill people...we just get ask to be a great person, love each other and love our nature...
We live with God's obeys and we feel so happy and peace...
sometimes what you see isn't the real thing...
i'm so sad seeing...why people judge our religion that way, they didn't know that exactly...to know Islam in real things,they have to learn it first...
but i don't care...for me world could tumbling down around me, people can hate me but i will always love my God =)

ok dont say "please dont stone me" that makes us seem violent, the way the media puts it. anyhow, islam is the most tolerant religion ever. we have no right what so ever to even touch u just cuz ur a christian jew or whatever. u have ur way and we have ours. but as a muslim it is our right and duty to tell u the truth about our religion and ofcourse it totally up to u to accept it or not. muslims dont and wont destroy non muslims just cuz they dont follow our faith. thats haraam(forbidden) in islam. the media makes islam look very bad. but islam is not like that at all. may allah guide us all. if u have further questions feel free to email me. have a good one and happy holidays :)

How closed minded are you? Everything, from religion to sports has fanatics. If you do believe your own thought(s), think of it this way, (and i'm sorry to answer your question with a question), but are all Jews responsible for killing Jesus? Are all white people part of the KKK? Are all Asian people good in math and eat sushi? Do all black people rob and steal money and eat cheetos with orange soda?
And for the muslims who do believe in killing Westerners, they are the ones who grow up in poverty, in bad parts of the country.

This is correct for *only* the most radical of Islamic extremists. It is *not* representative of all Muslims. For example, radical Islam will kill other Muslims because they are not of the 'right' sect / denomination.
