They can't speak as a human can but they do have a means of communication. Mine know when I'm talking to them and they respond with meows or purrs which is their language. You have to be really close to your kitties to understand them.

If you can train birds to talk, why not other animals?? My 2 yo cat says now when she wants to get out. She gets right next to the bottom of the door, and starts screeching now(she's in heat).
Birds have a different type of vocal cords, so it's easy for them to repeat what they hear. Cats, on the other hand, they don't talk like birds, but they use their tounge and their lips to say things. On that link, with the big black cat, if you look, the cat keeps moving it's jaw. It's trying to keep it's tounge wet, and it's preparing to say something else. Cats have been ''talking'' for years, long before they came out with videos, or ''America's funniest home videos''.

Yes cats talk, well mine does anyways. She always tells me how much she loves me. Actually last night she said she was really bored and that is why she kept walking on my back when I was stretching on the floor. This morning she said I could careless if you want me near that Christmas or not because I am going to play with the pine needles and then take a nap under it.

If by "talk" you mean "communicate by voice & sound," absolutely.
I can have virtual conversations with any of my three cats...the scopes of which are very limited...usually revolving around the subjects of food, petting, and opening doors.
Of course the language is Feline...not English (or some other human language.)

They can really understand what is inside you,
do not be to lenient to them though they can be
very naughty I have homed 162 cats over the
years wild or not, some of them do talk.............
Try to understand cats only like the language of
love, then you will get them to do whatever you
want.........

Cats don't talk as we humans do, but they do communicate. You will always know when they're hungry or want you to pet them. It's not only that "meow" but that look.

that is so cute. Sure I think that cats and dogs can learn to say words. They are around us humans and they listen to us talk, and they are really smart.

I sometimes swear I hear mine say "Mommy". Even if he's not, it's cute to think.
All animals talk through body language. When your cat is acting extra affectionate, you know he loves you or he's hungry.
