Well Celtic fans Get called Tics as they get on every ones nerves for starters and i think most Glasgow Celts Don't wash and scratch a lot anyway.....So they must be the Manky Lot.... :)

It's simply a short form of Celtic. Most people who follow football struggle with words longer than 4 letters.

They dont get called the tic. The get called the Taig. Which is Irish for Tim. which, in Ireland means or is associated with or has catholic connotations. So in a way it is derogatory and sectarian depending on which side of the fence you fall. Personally I'm a Taig.

I would imagine that Tic is just short for CelTIC.
