I've just moved here from the UK and want to ride a bicycle some weekends/evenings. I'm only a novice biker...Some questions:
1. Am I allowed to bike on pavements?
2. Can i bike anywhere in Central Park?
3. Any recommendations on a good/safe bike route?

You are allowed to ride your bike in the streets, and should follow all local traffic laws. Some of the larger avenues/streets will have bike lanes, and definitely use those. Stay off the sidewalks, for everyones safety!

In Central Park you can bike on the main "roads" but not on the smaller walking paths. The "loop" around the park is a great ride, but be prepared for some serious hills! The hill going from East to West on 110th Street is KILLER! If you aren't up for, take the cut through at @ 100th Street instead.

Depending on your hills/no hills preference - there is a nice level path along the West Side Highway - you can start down in Battery Park and ride up along the Hudson about five miles. It is a really nice ride!
