Cienna? This is made from raspberries, and sometimes cherries. It's very sweet, and has a sort of deep pink/purplish tinge to its rich red colour and it is more opaque than most other red wines. It is my favourite.

The "sweet" red wine was probably a Zinfandel. Wine was made to go with food so you should have it with dinner or some cheeses, etc. There are thousands of Cal. wines and all taste different although certain types (Cab, Merlot, Zin, Syrah) have distinguishing tastes that the trained palete can recognize. Learning to recognize the type of fruit taste (berry, cherry, blueberry, etc.) in combination with other characteristics, wood, vanilla, chocolate tastes and what part of your tongue is getting those tastes will help.
Go to a winery or 3 that has a tasting class, that will help you appreciate wine. If not, maybe wine isn't for you.
Also, a good bottle is so much more enjoyable than a wine in a carton. :-)

Mmmmm.....Wine gross tasting ???, everybody has a different Taste.
I think what you had to Taste as being a sweet red was "Lambrusco" wich is light sparkly. If you like that so much , make one. It's called "KIR". Originated in France it is made with either red(the original) or white Wine. Just add some Creme de Cassis, or if you like Chambord.

You may be thinking of a sangria, very fruity, very sweet. If you don't like normal wines, might I suggest a fruit wine. Not Boone's Farm, but a good apple or berry wine can be very tasty. Not a big wine drinker either, but I do like apple wine. We've found some great vineyards that make apple wine in New York.

You probably tasted Sangria, which consists of red wine, friut, a sweetner such as sugar or honey, and sometimes another liquer like triple sec or brandy. Originally from Spain.

I also hated wine for-ever until I tried Lambrusco's Riunite. OMG I just love it! And it's only about $10 at my local store :)

It's not like Zinfandel like others say. That stuff is still too sour.

Lambrusco is a very sweet, slightly carbonated wine that I used to love before I "graduated" to merlots and cabs.

It could have been Morgan David. It is a very sweet wine.
