Some things I know about Islam:
Islamic people pray five times a day.
Their dogmatic scripture is called the Koran (Qu'ran ?SP?)
They pray on rugs, on their knees and bow down towards Mecca.
They are supposed to do some kind of pilgramage to Messina or Mecca or something like that, at least once in their lives.
There is an Islamic town somewhere around Somalia that has decreed that those who are not praying during the five scheduled times, will be beheaded.
Their prophet Muhammed was a womanizer, he had many wives.
Most of them truly despise Jewish people.
Some of their more radical brethren believe they should kill all people who do not believe what they believe.

I think Islam, like Christianity and Judaism is a religion that preaches peace and love. But some men throughout history, being sinful and evil has done bad things in the name of Islam. Although most Islams do not approve of what they do, they somehow turn a blind eye, thus prompting most of the western world to believe that Muslims are terrorists. So it is all a big misunderstanding.

I know that after the fall of the roman empire until the rennisance they were the bastions of intellect and learning that Europe couldn't dream of. That their preservation or classic works of history and philosophy during a time when the nations of christiandom were burning books or at least not letting them be read outside of monestaries, is the only reason that the european enlightenment was possible. That their contributions to the world in the form of Architecture, mathmatics, alchemy ( as a precursor to chemistry), and astronomy was the backbone upon which reason in the west was rebuilt.
And I know that there are as many followers of islam who are good, kind, intelligent, and pious people as in any other religion and that they also have just as many nuts as christianity does.

I did a short study of Islam for one of my Religions classes in college long ago. Then I met a Religion professor named Dr Anis Shorrosh PhD, D.Min (2 doctorates). He is a Palestinian. I read one of his books: "Islam Revealed". I do not think much of Islam after that.

Islam is another religion. I have a religion, Thelema. I have love and respect for the will of Islamic people. I think it is the other muslims will to let someone tell you what to do. I believe in my own free will and that is the main law in Thelema. Women are not lesser than men I beieve it is wrong to FORCE women to not let women be free to do what they will. That is the only problem I have with certain religions saying that people dont have their rights when they are born with them. "Every man and woman is a star." not every man is a star and women are just there.

The majority of those following that faith are people just like the rest of us. The fanatics unfortunately are ultra fanatics. I spent many years working in the middle east, the biggest problem with Islam (or any religion) is that it is part of the government in many countries and in many cases forced upon the citizens. Separation of church and state is crucial to a free society.

I know they accept Jesus as a prophet, but they don't believe He died on a cross, but rather an imposter took His place.
I read that Muhammed, the "prophet" of the Quran, could not read or write, so it was all translated, hence the probability of a lot of it being mis interpreted or even deliberately incorrect.
I read Muhammed was married to a ridiculously young girl (like 11 or 12) and had many babies with her, and that he raped her.
I also read that they kill anyone who is not Muslim and will not declare the Quran the one true book of Allah. I read there will be no mercy for Christians & that they expect all of America to conform to their one true religion (but what religion doesn't claim that?) or else they will kill us all (911).
I read that if they kill themselves in the pursuit of trying to convert one to Islam that they will be rewarded in their afterlife with a whole bunch of virgins as wives.

I will try not to judge, but how can they claim they accept Jesus as a prophet & then kill anyone who doesn't believe in the Quran? Jesus preached unconditional love, and to love thy neighbor AND THY ENEMY.

If you are a Muslim, I respectfully ask if you have read your holy texts in a language that you can understand. I have read the Quran as well as a large number of the Haditha. The writing, forgive me for saying so, condemns itself. It is quite shocking as it describes how to divide the "booty" from dead infidels. It is basically a description of a barbaric tribal people who used religion as a means to violent political domination. Most Muslims today haven't really read the material, and they only know the "positive" things like believe in God, and pray 5 times a day. That part is fine, but the jihadists are being truly faithful to the original texts. Read it yourself.
