You shouldn't do anything, your friend is probably confused because your such a great friend so you have to understand that he's acting like that not because he's not interested, but because this is a big shock! You have to just act normal around him that way he's more comfortable, don't pressure him or rush him to tell you how he feels because you may scare him into not even being friends anymore. So just sit tight you already did your part (that was very brave of you) so now let him come to you, let him work things out and figure out what to do, because I'm sure you thought about it a lot before you approached him, so give him his time also. Good luck to you both, he should be lucky to be with some1 like you!

Flirt, But not to much because that'll ...scare him.
Listen, But don't be nosey because that'll bother him.
Talk, But not to much because that'll annoy him.
Ask him about the assignment or, if you are brave enough and don't think it'll bother him, ask him if he likes you back.

he probably likes you to but is uncomfortable because you are dating his best friend. If you want to see him you need to break off your current relationship first.
