I have heard that Islam considers dogs to be unclean, as pigs. Even some of the curse words in Arabic have "dog" in it. I have a feeling they prefer cats.

No this is not true. I'm muslim and I like dogs. However, Muslims are not allowed to keep dogs inside of their house. They are only allowed to keep them for guarding purposes, and even then they should stay outside. I'm not sure what the reason is though.

I am Muslim and don't like dogs, but I also know many non Muslims who don't like dogs too. It's a personal thing, not a religious thing. Dogs are just nasty to me.

I just spoke with our specialist in Arabic studies. He said it is a cultural issue - dogs are considered unclean. He doesn't recall anything specifically Muslim about it - it's not in the Qu'ran. He said that there are many different religions in that part of the world that consider dogs to be unclean...and that there are also many Muslims, particularly in urban areas, who keep dogs as pets and love them as part of the family.

I have been told by a muslim in a muslim country that they consider dogs evil and unclean. However, this view may be unique to just certain areas of the world.

I'm a muslim, and I like dogs. Just that we can't touch dogs and pigs, or eat them. However, we still can show them that we care by feeding them or anything. Without hand contact.. ;p
