Wow this is a toughy! If I was telling my daughter to find a guy but I was holding her back from one in particular, it would be because of the guys background. Also, if I knew the guy and I didn't think he was right for her I would definitley tell her no. My daughter's well-being & safety comes first so that would be MY reasoning.
If none of this fits just ask your parent's why they won't let you go out with him.

I see that you never acted like you were going to the movies with a bunch of girlfriends or something. Have someone to take you and your friends and have him meet you at the movie theater. It is still a date. I've did that too many times. It seems to me that your parents don't know what they want you to do. I hope that you are too too young. I thought that I would tell you that because you are going to do what you to anyhow.

Hello....I think maybe your parents r trying to protect u . Every parent worries about their daughter. u might not understand your parents thinking but as u get older u will... But i think they r trying to protect u...every parent does this that cares, loves, and whats their child to be save,i know its hard to understand how your parents think...why don't u suggest to your parents about going as a group.Your parents will feel alot better knowing there is a group going to the movies..and once they get used to u going in groups then they will let u go with just him.GL

Perhaps they know something about the guy who has asked you out. Moms and dads are protective of their girls, and while at first they may seem to be holding your back, it's only because they really care about you.

they probably dont like him talk to them and ask them what they dont like about him then if u dont agree see for yourself, say ur gonna go to the movies with ur friends and then really go with him or have u friends go to but have them see a different movie then u then if ur paretns call their house they will not be home to have ur parents find out u lied, lying is bad but if u really like the guy it will be worth it

Ask them what the problem is - show them your question.
Unless, they guys, like, 'way too old for you. In that case, just listen to your parents.

Why are they holding you back? Try to see it from their point of view. If you can't, ask them the reason why.

ask them why!!! and if they cannot give you an answer then you just tell them they are full of bull and they ought to trust you on this one!! i know exactly how you feel. they try to keep us from hurting but then we never learn how to react to it if someday we might get hurt! take a chance and JUST DO IT!!
