Could you tell me just where the Bible says this?
We are told of many musical instruments in the Bible The first was noted in Genesis 4:21
And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
Psalm 33:2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
More important then whether we listen or play musical instruments is that we do worship God in spirit and in truth.
1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

I would like to see the scripture you are talking about.
But it is important to be careful of what music we listen to. I have heard music can "go into" both halves of the brain un-impeded. So you will be influenced by what you listen to. I believe this is part of the drug problem. The 1960's music was radical, protesting, sexual, and drug using. Look at the society that came out of that.
