The New York Times reports this morning that they have given up on trying to implement a face or fingerprint recognition system that would check visitors leavnig the country. This would have been a way to track people to see if they overstayed their visitors' visas. I can't tell you more, as my husband took over the paper.

I never said I was against tracking illegals, if it can be done. I'm just wondering if they are giving up too easily on a program that could have yielded useful information. It's not like they would use a retina scan to track you going to the supermarket. I think it would just be a way to track people who did not leave or file for an extension when their visas expired, and of course to track their travel on airplanes, and then perhaps on trains.
