I was taught to never serve a cream based dessert in a glass/goblet intended for wine because, even after repeated washing, there is a noticeable rainbow effect on the surface of the wine from the protein. It seems, some glasses, due to their composition are "Dairy-Reactive" meaning the product will leave a residue of protein in the glass that is very difficult to remove.

not if you wash the glass first. just be sure to rinse it in cold water before you wash it in hot or else the protein will cloud the glass.
