Why did Jesus make this statement, if He is God?
He was also a man, with human limitations.
While on earth, He had to depend on His Father to do anything, just as we do. God, at that moment, severed His connection with Jesus, because He bore all the sins of the world. God and sin can not co-exist, just as light banishes darkness.
Christ, as a man, felt that separation, and thus the statement.
John 10:24-38 explains this better.
God has revealed Himself to mankind in three ways;
Father, God as creator of everything
Son, born of God and man, God incarnate as our Savior
Holy Spirit, God which lives within the believer.
All are distinct and separate aspects of God,
All three are God, as we know Him
It's like saying water has been revealed to us in three ways;
Water, as liquid form
Steam, as gaseous form
Ice, as solid form
All are distinct and separate aspects of water,
All three are water as we know it.
The word trinity is not found in the Bible.
It's just our way of expressing these three aspects of God.
All three are one.
We also become one with them, because of them. This also is not of our own choosing, but is a gift from God, to those who are chosen by God. That person then comes to Christ for salvation and are indwelled with His Holy Spirit when they become believers. The Holy Spirit makes us one with them all. That is the mystery and the "good news" (gospel) of Christianity, that the world does not understand. It's so much more than a religion, it's a totally new life. That is why they say "born again".
Hope that you have found this helpful.

The Trinity is the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Father is God, Son is Jesus Christ, Holy Ghost is the comforter that He left for us when he died on the cross to let us know that He will always live in our hearts if we let Him
Understand God a being too awesome for humans to look at him had to come in the form of a human (Jesus) so that he could relate to our pain and suffering. Jesus being human was able to feel what we feel because He was human.
On the cross Jesus uttered those words because He being human felt deserted even though He knew His purpose here.
There is some fear in all about death but once we realize the suffering will be over we become at peace just like Christ did when He commended His spirit. After all He was only human.
Realize He is not God but the Son of God
At this very moment He sits at the right hand of God.
They are one because God needed to relate to his creation and the only way to do it was to become human and by doing that he had to be human, hence Jesus is born
Plainly, Jesus is God in the flesh
Please read your holy bible starting with the New Testament and always pray for understanding. The New Testament talks about Jesus while the Old Testament talks about God. Have you ever seen the Ten Commandments?
I'm a Christian and no insult taken.
Hope I helped
I'll be praying for you

Please understand that all religious are telling story to let people to easy understand the meaning. God is the name that people admire.
What is god? If power is god, nature power is god. If intellegence is god, there are so many intellegence man in world will be gods too. If long life is god, mountain and sea will be gods too. God is a higher class creature? Then there are so many different classes of creature in the world. Who is god? God is named when people helpless looking for hope.
Is there god existing? I can say yes. They are in the different space of world. Do they help people? I can say some times but mostly are not. As the matter of fact, sometime help people is hurting them. In accordance with the budha sutras; you have this on the other side you will have that.
According to the bible; Trinity is represent of power. Which is a party containing god, Jesus and the holly spirit. When they are adding up together will create power of willing.
I can say that is true. The creatures gathering together to have a same willing will have a increditable power. Some of the people who minding concentration specially strong also able to do the increditable thing, such as bend the metal fort without hands etc.
The history tell us, there are so many powerful man had been known. Jesus, Mohamus, Lau Chi, Budha, Veda, Ganabati, so many powerful man had been shown in Chinese history.
I do not admire this powerful man because mostly were not happy.
Understand who you are and understand where you are. Do not follow you mind coming up to you. You can master your mind not coming up again. You concentration is good enough to know what is going on. You already are a god.

Not the greatest way to say it but the Trinity is three different parts. Like an egg. The shell, the yoke and the egg white. One egg - three parts.
God the Father, Jesus the son and the Holy Spirit, our guide. Three parts, ONE GOD.
Just keep in mind that God is unexplainable in human terms and we cannot know the inner workings of how he's put together. All we can do is make feeble attempts like the egg theory to try to understand.

Here is how I was taught it in my days at church, and it makes pretty decent sense to me...I've added in a bit of what I've learned studying anthropology since, which helps clear it up even further.
At different times in society, different aspects of God were needed. First the Father came to earth to talk with man. This was in tribal days, when the world was uncivilized, and an unyielding, strict, and warlike presence was needed.
Next the Son came to earth to talk with man. The world had reached civilization, and love and compassion could edge out the need for survival. The Son came to break down the laws that weren't necessary anymore.
Then the Spirit came to earth to talk with man, at Pentecost, and has been the part of God residing on earth since then. With the laws gone, the Spirit was able to give man gifts that couldn't be given without love being first and foremost.
Or, in a very simple, logical explanation: It's not 1+1+1=3. It's 1x1x1=1.

This may take a while.
Think of the Trinity like a body. God is the brain, Jesus the heart, and the Holy Spirit the lungs. All separate, but they work together to create one body. You can't kick one out, otherwise you don't have a living body any more.
If you need to discuss this more, since I have limited time right now, feel free to email me. I'd be happy to talk to you about what you want to know.

God needed to show himself on earth and so created his 'son' Jesus to be an earthly vessel for himself. Likewise when Jesus ascended into heaven, he left behind his spirit (the spirit of God) to reign within all of us and guide all of us.
In simple terms (though I'll get called a Balsphemer and ondemned by some) God wanted ot be accessible to people. He knew that mankind needed to have someone walk among them to help direct them and guide them to salvation. He created Jesus to do this.
There is only one God. He appeared on earth as Jesus. He is with us every day as the Holy Spirit.

first off you need to read a book by parley p pratt of the LDS church!
he describes God as part of the godhead.
Joseph Smith declared that the trinity is an "imagination" of a man and has nothing to do with the truth.
the trinity therefore is a false doctrine, manipulated through tradition after tradition from the words of a bishop in a book by Eusebius and the history of the church.

Well in the Bible there is a name for God, "El Echad"
El-means "God"
Echad-means "One"
But this one is different from the word "Yachid" which means absolute unity
Echad means "composite unity"
Jesus also uses this word when he talks about a man and a woman marrying, they become one "echad" flesh.
I've heard of a lot of explanations to make it simple 3 leaf clovers --3 leaves, one stem
water--can be found in three forms, but it's always water
humans--have mind, will, and emotions all different, but all belong to the same person.
It's wierd I know, but God isn't simple to understand. Why should we expect Him to be?
He's just so into fellowship that He hangs out with Himself.
"Let Us make men in Our own image".
And Christians are called the body of Christ another echad. Many parts, one body.
