They're really as bad as each other - you're just applying heat to the hair. There's pro's and cons:
blowdrying: start with wet hair so more protection, but heat is on hair longer.
straightening: only lasts short length of time, but more intense heat.
I'd say blowdrying is worse, with straightening you can protect your hair with heat sprays first. Just my opinion though!

I would have to say they're both going to do damage to the hair in the long run unless you use the cool setting on your dryer..lol. However, the straightener will do the most damage to your hair because you are not only applying but pressing heat directly onto the hair follicles. That singing smell? That's your hair burning. =)

i think the iron in straightening damages hair more than the blowdriers. your hair doesnt have direct contact with the dryer but with the iron it could really burn( your hands included)
make sure you thoroughly condition your hair before and after straightening to maintain that glossy look. make it look healthier.

both r harsh on ur hair. use a heat protecter spray when ur drying n straighning ur hair to protect it from the heat.

straightening....that is when you are applying direct heat to your hair (making contact) and frying it. Blow drying you can actually use cooler air

for me straightening,because theres chemical involves and it will take you atleast 2 months or I guest more before you can tied your hair or else its useless
