I do believe that cancer is something that some of us are just predispossed to long before the cancer ever shows up. I don't think your health has anything to do with it at all. Scientists have discovered that while mapping out the human gene code, they have seen that diseases are already on the gene code for a specific person, long before they ever get sick. They can now tell you if you are going to get say MS later in life, I think it works the same for cancers. Although your health may play a role in some cancers, but not by creating the cancer but by maybe speeding up when it will develop. In other words, if your predispossed for a certain cancer, your going to get it no matter what you try to do to prevent it. I know not all people believe this, but anyone educated in biology can see that this is definatley a possibility.

There is a terrible misconception by many, many people if they eat healthy foods, exercise, and do everything 'right' that they won't get cancer. No one is immune to cancer and nothing that you do will prevent it from happening. What living a healthy life will do, however, is give you a real chance and the strength to fight cancer if it ever happens. But, there is a real balance here.

The irony is that people who do eat well and maintain healthy lifestyles may also be 'feeding' their cancer and making it healthy too. Cancer cells are part of the human body and anything you use to make yourself healthy can actually strengthen the tumors too. Tumors can take on a blood supply from the body and receive the same nutrition as the rest of the body. Treatment becomes a fine edged knife that can teeter either way. Be extremely careful what you eat and always check with your doctor before taking anything. You can check reports from PubMed concerning these issues.

There are so many reasons, that you will Not get your answer here in this Forum. I strongly suggest that you contact your local "Cancer Society", you can see a "Professional", get the facts and you could also try a Google search. No one knows why, no one can be absolutely sure, and my heart is broken if you are this vibrant 45 year old woman. I was 47 years old, and woke to find that my only child, my son Stephen, only 25-years old, had been killed. He left behind, 2 beautiful granddaughters who I have raised. They are now 22 & 24 and the "light" of my life. To the day I die, No One will be able to explain that event to me! So some things that happen to you, you just learn to live with them, and carry on. Good Luck, and I hope I have helped a Little. Merry Christmas.

There are environmental issues besides family history and physical wellness. If you live in an area where there is pollution problems or even grew up near or in one, it can happen. Hazardous occupational environments can do you in as well. Smoking and second hand smoke are other issues. Anything can affect your body and cause changes that arent good. For example, I was 19 when I had accidently fell into a pond that had some napalm in it in Vietnam. Tho I washed and disinfected myself thoroughly, 33 years later I am crippled with MS that has been attributed to it, and no one in my family ever had MS. You just dont know where that bullet will come from.

I wish I could answer your question. I had an aunt who was extremely athletic, happy, and was very thin and ate salads and drank tons of water.....She ended up with breast cancer at age 55. BUT, she fought it, and is fine now.

So, maybe that female you are talking about has a good chance of survival, especially if it is caught early. I wish you luck.

It could be many things that don't have to do with how healthy she is. Enviromental factors are one, the air she breaths...etc... and there "Could" be a gene that has not been identified yet that could have caused it....or a cancerous gene mutation could have started with her, it doesn't have to come from down the family line. It could be alot of things that you aren't factoring in, or it could very well just come from nothing.
