No...even though it is not the same herpes virus of the genitalia area...it is still a herpes virus....this weakening ones immune system...unfortunately I did get this from my husband...but after going to a homeopathic doctor for some time...I no longer get the annual cold sore that I was getting....but no....if you can knowingly avoid it...you should not. Having said this...it is only contagious when one is actually broke out...so my understanding is.

Definately not!! Thay have a type of herpes!! Even if the person does not look to have a coldsore you could still catch it from them from Asymptomatic shedding (flakes of skin I think!!)

Plus that why would you want to kiss someone who has a coldsore they look awful.

And the genital herpes and coldsore one are very similar, there is a new coldsore tablet out that contains practically the same stuff as genital herpes tablets!!

A cold sore is herpes simplex 1 and it is contagious so my advice is no not to kiss a person with a cold sore, unless you want it. Best to wait until it clears up.

no. my husband and me don't even kiss if he's down with flu cause it's contagious. we just need to live with sense. we love one another so much so we decided not to pass the virus to the person that we love dearly and we can hold to that until he's better.

If it's on the lips - no way! However, you could always give them a peck on the cheek or airkiss on both cheeks...
