Most people live in a virtual reality (thoughts) in the head 99% of the time, so they're not truly living.
HOWEVER... there is never a time when you're not you, when you're not HERE. So just come back to being present whenever it occurs to you... and gradually you will become aware of real life.

It might be a chemical imbalance in your brain, it can happen at any age, depression or you could be bipolar. that's not a bad thing it happens to 1 out of ppl. the pills for it are really safe (ssri pills) they help store or give more serotonin in your brain. talk to a doctor(psychologist maybe would be better) let your doctor know everything that you think and feel, don't be afraid because that's the only way to get you better.
I also felt like the way your describing i would ignore it for a long time, but one time that feeling did not go away, I thought i was going crazy i was scared because i could just feel that something was not right inside of me.I tried every thing, from hobbies to going out, everything nothing worked. i started having insomnia and then i was not able to take care of my family. I felt guilt and fear so i would cry.
I'm glad that i was smart enough to try to get medical health because if i would of waited any longer i would have probably killed my self, and That was a feeling i had never felt in my life.well i found out it was depression, i didn't understand why because i have lots of friends and a loving family. the MD. told me that it was a chemical imbalance. after months of taking prozac i have never felt any better or happier in my life.
Anyways try everything in ur power to get better, but if nothing works just be strong and go see a docor.I wish you luck and belive me ur not alone this happens to lots of ppl. Take care!!!! also keep notes of feeling writing them down will help a lot. if u don't wan any on to see them throw them away after your done.

See a Dr, you might want to keep a diary of what you're feeling and whats happening around you as well, but if you feel the severity is getting worse then seek medical advice.

It could be depersonalisation. Go to www.dpselfhelp.com and see if the symptoms describe what you feel.
