My wife and I have been all over the UK - furthest north, south, east, west, two furthest apart points and the highests peaks. We would like to add the furthest below ground to our tally. I do not want the name of the deepest mine - I want the deepest we can get to underground. Thanks to all.

the point of air {im not sure if thats spelt correctly} was the deepest mine in the uk.not many underground mine tours exist due to health and safety regs, there used to be one near where i live but the underground part of the tour was stopped, now you get into the miners lift and the walls move giving the impresion of the lift descending below ground.hope you find somewhere.

Boulby mine in North-East England is the deepest mine in the UK, though they don't appear to do tours. http://www.mining-technology.com/projects/boulby/

However, if you were to get sponsored for it for charity or something, you may be able to persuade them to take you down.

This webpage details mine exploring and you may be able to find which the deepest explorable mine in the UK is by contacting them:
