I really don't understand why nobody answers my question on PUDDING. It' s a sensible question, more sensible than hundreds of others. I deleted the previous one and then rephrased it, but nothing has arrived so far. WHY? You can read it on the list of my questions.

Plum pudding indeed used to contain dried plums (prunes). It can include all sorts of things like bits of apple and even carrots. The idea about Christmas pudding is that it used to be made with whatever was at hand in the way of fruit, fresh or dried. Until air transport permitted the importation of fruit from other countries, the range of ingredients was limited and based on fruit that had been dried or preserved in season. Victorian recipes contained dried plums, dried grapes of various kinds, currants and nuts. Since the second world war, recipes have been changed and improved with additional ingredients added such as glace fruit.
I put cut up prunes which I have soaked in a brandy and fruit juice solution overnight in my Christmas pudding.

I didn't answer it because I have never eaten plum cake or plum pudding. I actually didn't know they existed... But this is a convo I had with a friend several years ago which might make sense:
Me: Hey clay what's fruitcake made out of??
Clay: *eyes rolling* Well honey what do they make orange juice out of???
Me: Fruitcake is made out of oranges??
Clay: *eyes rolling* No they make orange juice out of oranges!!!! they make fruitcake out of..... FRUIT!!! DUH!
Me: oh I guess that make sense because it's called FUITcake

So what I learned from this is that if it has the name of a fruit or something in it that is what is phsically IN it. But keep in mind there are exceptions to every rule.

I don't think many people here know that much about cooking and those that do probably missed your question. I looked at your question and I don't know the answer.
