If you are trying to open it from your desktop - then the problem could be that the shortcut is corrupted. Access the recycle bin from the C or D drive...

no problem go to start button -> all programs -> accessories -> system tools -> Disk clean up. If you chose this disk clean up you has to select the recycle bin and press ok. Thats all.

Right click on recycle bin
click on open
restore any file which you want to restore on clicking the relevant file
