I have American Express traveller's cheques and I got sorely ripped off recently (by American Express themselves!!) in Prague with the exchange rate. I'm coming over to the UK for Christmas; anyone had a better experience than me? Please let me know where! Merry Christmas!

Never had a problem with NatWest bank's exchange rates. They have branches everywhere, including the airports.

The best thing I found is to get an atm card and put the amount in your checking account. They have cash machines. The pound is worth almost twice as much as the dollar so deduct twice as much. It does vary from day to day. You didn't get ripped off, it's just that our dollar is not worth the same as the pound.
