It is possible to get married in some Churches if you've been married before, my Mum's been married twice both times in churches. It helps if you're a member of the Church or at least go to Church, as you're more likely to be accepted...it doesn't just count if you've been baptised. I'm not sure where Catholics and Church of england stand on this subject but most protestant Churches e.g baptist methodist allow you to remarry. If you're a member of a church there shouldnt be a problem. but you might as well try a few out to see what they say

Hi there.

As many folks have already mentioned, it very much depends on your denomination and your local vicar/priest.

As you didn't state a particular denomination in your question, I'm guessing that you're probably both members of the Church of England. With this in mind, I've done a bit of research and have found the following on Weddingsday.co.uk - it would appear to answer what you're after....

Q: Are divorcees allowed to re-marry in the Church of England:
In a nutshell, the answer is that it depends on the circumstances. Widows and widowers should encounter relatively few problems, although for divorcees whose ex-partner is still alive, there may well be difficulties. For divorcees, regardless of their situation, the first step should be to speak to the relevant Minister who would be conducting the Ceremony. The Minister will usually ask for further information about the circumstances that led to the divorce and will then assess each case on its merits. A Minister is well within his rights to refuse to marry divorcees although as time passes the number of Ministers continuing down this path is diminishing.

In case you need any other info, I have attached a link to the site (the page it links to is the one with the above Q&A on it) - the site also has tons of stuff on CofE Weddings as well as info on Roman Catholic marriages in case you are from this faith instead.

Hope this helps.

If you are Catholic, then the answer would be yes and no. You would have no problem just as long as you are legally divorced. However, your groom (if he has been married in a Catholic church) has to have his marriage annulled. From what I heard the process is a bit expensive and tedious because his case would be heard in some sort of "court". It would be best to consult a canon lawyer regarding this matter. You can also go to a Catholic theological school and see someone who's adept at canon law. With other religions I have seen several competent answers that you can consult. =)

The church where i got married gave me a price list and i've just had a look they do allow divorcees to marry but at an extra cost of £80 pounds, never noticed that before and personally i think its wrong they should either allow it or not. Me and my husband got married in a c of e church i have been baptised he has not, they told us as long as one of us was it would be fine.

You can get married in some churches. you will have to approach the vicar and ask.

I don't think you'll be able to get married ina Catholic church. lots of Anglican/Church of England churches will marry divorcees as long as neither were involved in the breakup of the other's marriage. the United reform church will marry pretty much anyone i think. It doesn't matter whether you have been married in a church or registry office before.

Good luck!

The Catholic church might have a problem...but other churches shouldn't. I would meet with the minister as soon as possible and see if there is anything you need to do in order to get married in the church. Some churches require you to take classes and stuff.

Good luck!

p.s. I had an Uncle who was divorced and he managed to get married in a Catholic church...but it took a whole lot of jumping through hoops to do it. So as long as you do what they need you to do you should be able to have a chuch wedding.

It depends on the church. Catholic churches tend to be strict, others not so.

I know a few catholics who had second marriages in methodist churches because they couldn't marry in catholic churches.

The other option is to have a church blessing. You get married in a registry office and then you do the white frock bit in church to recieve a blessing.

I guess it depends on what kind of church you want to get married in. I'm Christian and go to a nondenominational Christian church. You would certainly be allowed to get married in my church. We don't excommunicate people or make them leave the church if they're divorced. You can get married in our church even though it's your second marriage, so look around and you will find an open church that will be accepting of you.
