Any ideas for cool wedding favors??
I'm a little picky, which is why I need help, so here it goes:

Not too expensive, but I'm open to reasonable price ranges. No candy, bubbles, candles, picture frames, or soap. I want something different I suppose.

Wedding info: colors are sage green, pale yellow and peach. awesome 14 piece big band. outdoors under a big white tent in the summer. ocean in the background (but again, I don't want the normal sand and seashell favors, etc.).

I deeply appreciate anyone willing to help me with ideas! Thank you!!!

It is so nice that you are trying to be original, so many people do the same thing and they only end up in the garbage. It is so sad if you think about it because you spend all that money and it is just thrown out. Keep in mind that the people that are there are your friends and family. You said that your colors are sage green, pale yellow and peach, so print out some of your favorite recipes that call for sage, peaches and something yellow. Print them up on yellow cards with fancy lettering and then put them in a small basket with peach food coloring, some sage and yellow food coloring. There are some awesome looking little bottles out there and some really cute baskets. This way your friends and family can use what you give them and they have your favorite recipes so that when they invite you for dinner they will know what you like and they will go great with your color scheme. Best of luck and have a wonderful wedding.

I agree that favors end up unused or in the trash. The charity idea is excellent. Money well spent. What are you and your groom interested in that you could arrange a donation to. Is one of you a teacher, try educational charities. Perhaps if someone close to you is suffering from an illness and can't attend or someone died from cancer or alzheimer's. A childrens charity is a good idea.

One thing I did see at a wedding once as an addition to the ordinary favor - one lottery ticket for that evening where the numbers were read at the end. No one won but it was a fun idea.

I used to be in the bridal business and I'm going to tell you a few secrets, which you may not want to hear:

99% of guests do not want and do not appreciate favors.

They may 'oooh' and 'ah' over your favors, but it is a very momentary reaction. The vast majority of non-food favors end up in the trash cans at the wedding site or its parking lot before ever making it home. Of those that do make it home, all but 2 or 3 will end up in the home's trash can with 2-4 weeks at most.

The general exception to that would be food/candy -- however, you have said you are opposed to that. (And yes, cds of your favorite songs will also end up in the trash.)

The bridal business does not tell you this truth because they want to sell you stuff. Nonetheless, it is the truth. So, my advice to you is to forget about the favors and concentrate on the table centerpieces.

What about incense sticks tied with an organza ribbon of your colors and some dried dlowers.

Your can also go to godiva.com and get the four or two piece chocolate boxes. They are specialy made for weddings and they have different color ribbons. They are about 3.85 a piece plus shipping and tax.

I hope this helps,

Good luck

What about favors that says something about your interests or something about you and your soon-to-be spouse? If you're into arts, what about a replica of your paintings? It would make it personal and your guests won't just file it in a box that would be forgotten over time. Some give out food, like a small cake. A friend got married just before Christmas so she gave out a made-to-order star that one can hung on a tree. Hope this helps and best wishes. =)

Stick to the little organza bag with five heart-shaped chocs, four gold and one red. It may not be original but it's a little something they can enjoy while at the table or take home with them. There is no real need to dream up something meaningful and memorable. That's really trying tooo hard. Just get something they can momentarily enjoy and don't have to feel guilty about throwing out.

You could get pack of seeds for your fave flowers and use a ribbon to secure a little card with your names and date. I also knew someone who gave small bottles of liquors like Godiva chocolate liquor. Below is a site where you can get some ideas. Good Luck, and Congrats!

maybe little sunscreen bottles with your names on them? (since its outside in the summer) or like fans...maybe bottled water? Think of things that will be useful to your guests at the wedding. I saw in a bridal magazine this girl had a big pile of flip flops in her colors waiting at the reception for the ladies so they could lose the heels....which arent really fun to wear in grass!

Save you time & money on favors that people just leave behind! Instead of favors at their seats, we made a donation to a charity. This was noted on the table with their placecards: "In Leui of favors, we have made a donation to ***". It saved me time & money!!!!
