It might just be south american tea, I'm not sure. I met a Brazilian guy once who shared some around. You pour the 'mix' (which looks like lots of flowers, bark and who knows!) into a cup and then top it up with hot water. You then drink this from a 'metal straw' and once you have drunk all of the liquid you pass it on to the next person who fills it up and drinks it and so on.

If anyone knows where its possible to get some from, preferably in London or Kent, I would be very grateful!

Cheers!

This drink is called "chimarrão" (cimarron). It's made with yerba mate. In London (I hope London UK) not London (Canada) you can find it in the address below.
Algerian Coffee Stores on 52 Old Compton Street W1
Or in their website for other address options
Good luck!

Yerba maté is a cultural phenomenon throughout South America and is loaded with vitamins, minerals and amino acids. It contains compounds that keep its drinkers healthy, energetic and vibrant; it also works great as an appetite suppressant. An invigorator of the mind and body, a natural source of nutrition, and a health promoter, Yerba Mate deserves the attention of anyone interested in achieving optimal health.

Be cautious when purchasing however, many companies sell products loaded with stems and even sticks from other plants that have virtually no nutritional value. Brazilian Basics Yerba Mate Tea with Mint is 100% pure Yerba Mate leaves.

You can get Yerba Mate just about anywhere these days, although it might be a bit harder to come up with that hollowed out gourd & bombilla (tea sipper) so try buying it in cup-sized tea bags or chilled bottle of Guayaki brand.
