Thanks for the wikipedia version but, Kummel is produced mainly in Holland, it is used as a flavouring in desserts. It is also thought that it could have originated in Russia, which is possibel since there is no story revolving around the production. Kummel is nearly always served on rocks in its countries of origin.
It found it's way to Germany and Europe.
It has somewhat of a licorice flavor.
