The longest drive recorded in the Guiness Book of World Records was made September 25, 1990 by Kelly Murray. He hit a golf ball 684.8 yards on a 30-yard wide airstrip at Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia, besting the previous record by 50.7 yards. Hope this helps some. Happy Holidays.

Longest ball carry was (total distance before hitting ground) 408 yards. Longest total drive 458 yards. Or at least with an altitude below 1000 meters. Probably went for like 1000 yards teed up from the top of a mountain.

The longest drive on a golf course and in competition is Mighty Mike Austin and the 515-Yard Drive
Thirty years ago a brash pro belted the longest drive in history. With a persimmon driver. He was 64. And the record still stands.
Notes: The hole is long, straight, and flat, measuring at 450 yards. Mike Austin had a 30 MPH tailwind to assist him. Needless to say his drive went well over the green. His carry was just over 400 yards, landing short of the green, then taking some nice bounces coming to rest 65 yards past the flag.
Thirty years later, it's still the longest drive ever, according to Guinness World Records. (The PGA Tour began logging individual driving distance in 1980. The longest drive since then is thought to be 457 yards, by J.C. Goosie, at a Senior Tour event in 1988; the longest recorded drive on the regular Tour is 427 yards, by Chris Smith in 1999.)
