1) Make the home cat-freindly (no expensive vases and brick-a-bracks that may topple over and break; no plants toxic to cats; household cleaners and the like put away in a place where a cat wont get to) them; human medications safely tucked away in med cabinet; etc)

2) Decide where the cat will sleep - it should be in a room where s/he will be assured peace and quiet and security (like your bedroom). Don;t waste money uying a bed for the cat at the petshop - cats make their own beds.

3) Get Cat litter and 2 (two) litter boxes and situate one in bathroom or laundry and one in the room where the cat sleeps or stays in when s/he is resting. The litter box whould be placed where the cat can mave a degree of privacy when s/he does his business.

4) Get 2 food bowls and 2 water bowls. A place mat too in case kitty is a messy eater.

5) Decide where the cat is to eat. It sould not be in high traffic areas like the hall.

6) Buy food: should be good quality canned and dry food. First ingredient listred should be a high protein source like fish, chicken or beef (not by-products). Stock up.

7) Get kitty grooming things: brush, comb, cotton balls, wipes, hand towel, bath towel.

8) Get cat toys - feather teaser is a no-fail toy.

Cats? Cats have to have a litter box, litter, food, water.

You need to brush their hair a few times a week.

Give them a bath once a month or so.

If they are going to be indoor cats, then you need to get them declawed and spayed/neutered.

Cats are easy to take care of, and are not high maintence. They are lots of fun and entertainment. They'll give you lots of love and affection.

Good Luck. :-)

Don't listen to Daft about getting them declawed. That is extremely cruel. There are toys out there that will keep your cats from scratching your furniture; you may have to teach them how to use it, but once they do you won't have to worry about it.

Imagine someone ripping your fingernails out - Vietnam anyone? Please don't do that to your kitty. Also, if they are going to be indoor and they accidentally get out, they may need those nails for defense. And if you raise your kitten right, s/he will not scratch you on purpose, neither of my cats ever scratch me.
