Did your destination of choice affect the time of year you got married? For example, we would love to go to Scotland, in a cabin on a loch, with log fires etc, so we are getting married next winter...

yes our destination choice did affect the timeof year, we got married in the snow in a snowdome in lapland just before christmas. my fave time of year i love it! fairytale wedding, really special and exclusive, not many people getmarried there because its so expensive, i wore a gold dress with fur trim and a hooded brown fur cape with a 6 foot trail. fantastic (not real fur by the way). it was realy romanmtic and ill remember it forever. we came home and had a massive do inbetween xmas and new year the went on honeymoon to new york, niagra falls, texus, honduras and roatan. fantastic experience.
a honeymoon is individual to you both it depends on your likes and dislikes, for total relaxation try the maldives, for an adventure holiday go to costa rica, animal lovers try kenya, a no fuss hastle free wedding go to las vegas, and for those who want a hassle free cheap wedding andhoneymoon combined go to the carribean.
i think you have already made up your mind about wanting to go to scotland, sounds lovely, why not get married in a scottish castle first, dont get married at gretna green though its soooo commercial, and its like a conveyor belt of weddings.
dont listen to anyone else, its your day - you decide, and congratulations by the way, have a fabulous day and a long and happy mariage

We went to Las Vegas. We had a May wedding, but our choice of destination had more to do with the fact that neither of us had ever been there before (also had to do w/ the fact that that's where my own parents had honeymooned over 25 years before). We had a blast, there is soooo much to do there! You could go on 24/7 and never even gamble. There are shows, clubs, amusement parks, golf courses galore, and something cool to look at everywhere you look! For our second honeymoon, however, I'd really like to take him to Hawaii or some other tropical locale. We went to Key West for our 10th anniversary, & that was a lot of fun, too. I would have to say that getting married in the winter would lead to honeymooning, and later, anniversaries in places that are snowy or verdant; the log fire in a cabin sounds like the perfect touch to a romantic journey, which is what your honeymoon should be. Best wishes for a long and happy marriage!

My wife and I went on a Honeymoon in the Himalayas. That was great, I know it is not for everyone but if you would like something different from the normal sun and beach honeymoon, then that is an idea.

My hayfever decided on what time of year we got married as I didn't want to go down the aisle sneezing so we got married in May and went to Cancun for our honeymoon. It was very hot and very Americanised but fun. Unfortunately the marriage only lasted 10 years.

We went to Cyprus. Had a lovely time. Did loads of things that you wouldn't normally do on an ordinary holiday. We went on a Cruise to Egypt which was really nice. Don't think it matters where you go as long as you enjoy yourself.

If I ever get married!!!! I would love to either do exactly what you are doing or Cornwall in the Autumn or winter

I love the Idea of going for walks in the cold and rain so my man can cuddle up to me to keep me warm and then when we get back to our cabin have a nice hot choc in front of an open fire and of cause the other !!!

I think you have made a very romantic choice I wish you well and all the happiness in the world, good luck

When we got married we went to Thailand for our honeymoon it was great. Im from Scotland and can assure you that you will enjoy your honeymoon here as long as you dont mind the cold weather and some rain. I suppose it gives you the excuse to stay in bed all day.
Please accept my congratulations and enjoy your big day.
