In order to be trust worthy one has firstly, to be true to himself. He has to keep his own promises. His faith in God has to be generated from his need to feel God and not in a dogmatic manner. That is why though we have 90% people or more among those who are living around the world do believe in God yet hardly 40% of them could be trusted and the rest have ditched some or other in their life so far.
Hence, Atheists can also be trusted and God fearing is no guarantee for trustworthiness.

Stats show that we are the least trusted of all beliefs, yet all statistics point towards Atheists having higher moral standards than many others. Look at how prison poulations are normally aound only 1% Atheist, even when the country's Atheist population is as high as 20%.

You can fear God and still be a wretched person. Fear is not understanding. This question does not make sense. it is n ot just atheists, but all mankind may not be trustworthy if they do not have an understanding of the nature of good.

Why would you trust someone who is only doing good to get into heaven? How about people who do the right thing because it is the right thing to do not because they fear god. What a ridiculous way of thinking. Do you trust your priest alone with your children?

Trustworthiness has nothing to do with believing in God. Look at all the evangelists and priests who are in prison for embezzlement and molesting. People shouldn't need threat of punishment to be "good", and if they do, they have a problem.

Good people even good atheists have an internal moral compass
which is more reliable than a fear of God. Fear of God is a damaging concept erroneously interpreted for us and spoon fed to us in our youth by flawed people trying to get us to conform the their standard of being good.

Are Christians trustworthy if their God forgives everything if they repent and they all repent when they remember they go to hell if they don't?
I don't think religion has anything to do with whether one is trustworthy or not. Some individuals are trustworthy, some are not, and there are individuals from both groups in every religion and among the non-religious too.

Much more so than some fool that is so gullible as to believe in ancient superstitions.... How much trust does naivety deserve?
They used to ask the same thing of roman citizens that believed in Jupiter.....

Answer Faerie says it all...
If all that keeps you trustworthy is God's punishment, you are actually not trustworthy. Lets say, hypothetically, you become absolutely sure God does not exist, will you stop becoming trustworthy? No. Then why do you expect atheists not to be trustworthy?

I'm an Atheist and I am very trustworthy. I have respect for my fellow men and women and out of that alone is my integrity established.
