This can be a sign of the cat being under the weather; it could be a simple eye infection or something more sinister.
If the cat seems OK and is still active and eating just keep a close eye on him and see if any other symptoms develop. I have a Maine Coon who gets this problem on a regular basis - he has had many problems and has a weak immune system as a result. When the eyelids come across we keep him inside for a few days; if there is discharge coming from the eyes clean them gently with damp cotton wool. My cat, Marlon's, usually clear up in a couple of days. If he starts to show any other worrying signs (off his food, weight loss etc) get him checked over by a vet.

Is that the inner lid (color white)? When the inner lid closes almost half-way accross the cats eyes, it often mean intestinal problems such as worms. Take the cat to the vet with a stool sample (cat's poo). They can check andeither confirm or rule out worms.

I would think there is something wrong there, as I had a cat a few years back and I don't ever remember that happening!
Get it checked out!!
It's better to be safe than sorry

It would be their 3rd eyelid or nictating membrane and it is not 'normal' unless their eyelids are partially closed in pleasure. It can be a breed defect or an infection if it is constantly that way, otherwise not to worry.

It should not be that way and is a sign of many illnesses. Please have kitty looked at. It can be simple or serious but either way, the kitty isn't happy and actually could go blind.
