I'm a young stay at home mom and my boyfriend is the only one working to support us soon. Pretty soon I'll be starting school to become an LVN. But I have two choices that I can't decide on. I could attend this vocational school to become an LVN..its a 14 month program where I don't have to take any prerequisites but it costs 20,000 just for those 14 months. Or I could attend a community college where it would take me about 3 years to become an LVN and it only cost $2,000. I really need the money because I can't just depend on my boyfriend forever for all of our expenses. Put yourself in my situation. And for moms answering this question what would you do in my situation?

LVN as in licensed vocational nurses?

If so, then I'll say go for it. You have to think of it in the long run. LVNs earn more money than if you're just a worker with college diploma.

Plus, if you're an LVN, it'll be easier for you to get jobs since you're specialized. However, if you're just someone with a college diploma, finding jobs will be difficult 'cause you'll be competing with others who may have bachelor/master degrees.

So, I'd say go for the LVN.

In the extra time you can be working if you take the 14 month class you should make a lot more than the extra cost of school. So take the shorter class
