Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
Many do not understand the Revelations but remember, the book of Daniel is an important key to understanding this book.
Also, many may fear some of the things predicted in Revelation but if we belong to the LORD...HE is in full control and nothing can happen to us that HE does not allow. Just as in Daniel, GOD kept the Hebrew children safe from the fiery furnace while they were in the middle of the furnace...HE kept Daniel safe from starving lions in the middle of the lions den. These same lions torn others apart before they even hit the ground.
There is nothing for a child of God to fear in reading his or her Father's word.

If you are not familiar with the rest of the Bible it will be difficult to understand what Rev says. You see the book was a vision to John when he was imprisioned on an island. It is written in signs and in order to understand the signs you need to know the Bible. I will give youan example. In Rev John talks about a 7 head 10 horned beast. Back in the Bible Daniel talks about a dream with a beast in it and then goes on to explain it. So you are able to see that wild beasts in dreams are meant to be world powers or rulers at that time. Hope I helped friend. If you had a specific point in Rev maybe I can help. wbyrnes100@hotmail.com
thanks friend

Not to offend but it's the book of Revelation, not Revelations. But yes please read it, it's the only book that comes with it's own divine blessing (they who read and also them who hear). It's also the only book that comes with it's own divine outline. Read Revelation 1:19
-the things which you have seen (ch.1 the resurected, glorified Jesus)
-the things that are (ch.2-3 Church history)
-the things which shall be here after (ch. 4-22 rapture, tribulation, millenium reign, the end)
It's really not a hard book to understand if you follow the divine outline.
P.S. Stick to the kjv, nkjv or even the niv (if you like) don't read the new age translation (JW)

I guess reading is not enough, would you like to understand it? Contact JWs, the book 'Revelation, Its Climax is at Hand!' will be the book study starting January 2007. They can help you understand the symbolical meanings written there.
I used to read it too but never understood it though, now I do, and the explanations comes from the bible too...

Why not? But the Revelations may be having subtle meanings as well. It is all intended for the guidance and refinement of man and not for idle readers. Hence there may be more to the meanings than what appears outwardly. Such texts are there in many religions - like the Bavishya Puraana of the Hindus. So read the text with reverence and benefit by it. God bless you.

Revelation is a wonderful book with much reassurance for Christians - read it but don't get bogged down by the parts you don't understand

Revelations was written by st, john and described things in a non-literal way, The devil was a secretive term for the roman empire and its greed.....it is not a prophecy of the end of the world......it was a prophecy for the end of their world (the fall of the roman empire)
