A 20 gauge with buck shot or shells is strong enough to drop most game. A 20 gauge won't drop a bear no matter what you load it with, but other then that you're good.

a 20 gauge will put down a deer if you make a vital shot.remember your range for shooting the 20 gauge is a max range of 75 yrds....i would not try a shot longer than that because all you will be doing is wounding the deer and it will run off and die else where which will be a waist of the deer...use a slug and not buck shot....buck shot is not an effective way of bagging a deer

I have a Ithaca 20 Gage and use Remington supper Sluggers (ammo). It works great! I have prevented many deer car collisions with this combo and have an impressive 8 pointer hanging on the wall. Aim for the heart and lungs they won't go far.

It would do it, but it sure wouldn't be my first choice in ammo. I would get some rifled deer slugs. You have a better chance at dropping the animal clean and you have much better range.

yea you just have to make it a good shot. heart or lungs. i have a 20.. i use 3 inch magnums #2 or #1 buckshot when im hunting dear with it. normally i use my Henry .44 for deeer hunting. it is best for the places i hunt. umm make sure you chamber is right if you decide to use 3 inch magnums. good luck.

Yes, but I would advocate slugs over shot in almost all circumstances. Buckhammer slugs are pricey but the best on the market. 100 yards is well within reach of these shells.

If you can get to within 10 feet of the deer it is.

A little overkill, you could kill them with 30-30, 223, 243, 270, any of those calibure guns will do it, but if you use a shot gut, you chance on ruining the meat
