1) During photosynthesis glucose is manufactured in the leaves by the chloroplasts.

2) Part of this soluble glucose is used by the plant to meet its immediate requirements.

3) Remaining glucose is converted in to insoluble starch and stored.

4) So starch in the leaf comes from the process of photosynthesis.

carbondioxide and water makes carbohydrateand in some plants to minimise water loss the carbohydrate is changed into starch

to keep it simple, leaves contain a green pigment known as chlorophyll. photosynthesis takes place which "combine" sunlight, chlorophyll and carbon dioxide to produce starch! (:
