a lot of my friends say you grow more when you're sick with a cold or something. This makes sense because i was sick for 2-3 days and skipped school, then when i came back, all my friends say i grew. I checked.. and sure enough, i grew 3 inches. I was wondering if there was anything scientific about this? maybe its just because of the extra sleep you get when you have a cold?

It doesn't make sense that you grow more when you're sick; kids that are constantly sick tend to have their growth stunted. But supposedly when you wake up in the morning you're two inches taller than you normally are. I'm not sure what the mechanics of that are, but if you spent 2-3 days in bed maybe that's what happened and it won't last. Or you grew over a longer period of time and your friends only noticed because they hadn't seen you for three days. You probably didn't measure yourself the day before you got sick, so you don't know if the growth actually happened during those 3 days.

you didnt grow 3 inches in 3 days, sorry. and no, you dont grow more when you are sick. if anything, you would grow less since your body is using its energy to fight the infection instead of growing.
