There is no sane reason to that I can think of. But if I am attacked I will defend myself and my family. Let's for sake of argument take this down to a one on one situation. If someone told you that the next time they see you they are going to kill you, and you had the chance to take them out first would you? Would you then be the starter of this one on one war? It can get complicated I just wish there was another way to settle the differences maybe we will evolve someday. But I think as long as man is around so will wars.

Sounds like a flower child. It is a lovely thought, but it will never be unless, by some bazaar change involving every country and every peoples on earth, it will always be that someone wants what the other has. OR wants to be king of the hill. Seems this is what the middle east wants today.
War can be avoided only if the aggressor is given his way, which will mean mass killing.

If Nation A begins killing its own citizens or Nation X's people. Kinda the way Iran and North Korea do, but on a small enough scale that no one will notice. These two countries are whom we have to focus or military planning with in the coming years.

Should we sit idle while hundreds of thousands are killed in Darfur? Helping them would be considered an act of war by some.

because we love war..don't we? how many movies about war that has been produced? don't we love watching people get shot and people screaming for help..
as long as this world holds an arsenal of any weapons..we will have a war until god decided to end this world.
