In Canada it works as follow. First you have to prove that your product is not harmful. Then you have to prove by scientific studies any claims about your product. Some naturals products have proven active properties like glucosamine for arthritis related illness and some plant have proven relaxing qualities. But in some cases health products mixed with conventional medications had harmful effects. All energy drinks can make this claim because of their caffeine contents. Spiruline as example is only recognized as harmless. Almost anything that has some diet supplement in it can be advertized as good for the health in general. (Vague claim).
