The agent will take care of every thing. You have to take care of a few things. The important ones are you should see to it that the budget is not crossed. As agents get their commission they would try to make bigger bills out of you. So check out the facilities you are getting for what you are paying. Go to various agencies before finalising. Just don't believe any one agent you may get better deal if you check with more than one person. If your travel is with in India then you can check the facilitie provided by the tourism department, they are really good in many cases. If abroad, you have many travel agencies like Thomas cook, sita travels and so on...

call an agent or go to their office and they will do the rest, that's what they're there for, seriously. this will be more expensive though. if you are at all handy on the Internet, you should be able to book most of your trip yourself. An agent will have better ideas for you, but it costs for those ideas.
