I agree with most of what you've stated - but I dispute that your soldiers are gallant.
Watch the video at the below link for a tiny example of this, or ask anyone imprisioned at Abu Gharib.

You know I am starting to think you people actually have talked yourselves into believing Bush is as bad as you are told he is . The hatred started by the liberals that head the now democratic party with lies and half truth's has worked better then I ever thought it would. They have you believing that he is far more evil than the Islamic fundamental terrorists who are determined to kill you.America is the one at fault here why we deserve to lose the war on terror because of Bush. I feel sorry for you. Don't you think he would have been impeached by now if he was so bad? The national debt will always be big because we in our apathy as a whole have allowed government to grow way to big. Letting the government become our "daddy' in so many aspects of our lives costs money. But I guess some people like to rant and rave and Bush is an easy target. I would never want his job. Do you wake up hating Bush or do you have a cup of coffee first? It doesn't seem like much fun to be so full of hate and it makes it worse when you have develped this hate from believing an idiology not based in reality.

Why would someone so foolishly not realize that he's making tough decisions that are actually better for our country?
We wouldn't have gone to war except for 9/11, which could have been prevented if Clinton had only gotten osama when he had a great chance. And if Saddam had allowed UN inspectors into the country. They did find sarin which is a WMD.

I used to actually care about arguing with people like you, but what I've learned over the years since the Iraq invasion is that there is no arguing with an uneducated emotional opinion.
But for the sake of amusement, let me invalidate your question this way: If everyone hates him so much, how is he going to "go down in history as a great world leader?"

The people who support Bush are the same types who would have supported Hitler in his day. They want a big strong Daddy to tell them about all the big bad monsters and then to promise to protect them. The catch is that the big strong Daddy can't protect them as long as they're free. No the big strong daddy needs to be able to see into their houses, listen to their phone calls, and take away their right to vote. All this is necessary or the big scary monsters are going to come here and establish a Caliphate. We are speaking of a group of childish cowards who are so irrational and small-minded that there is no talking any sense into them. What is going on in this country is basically a war between the sane and the insane. Guess which group supports Bush.

You make a good point. Bush was praised as a hero for his daring flight to Baghdad a few years ago at Thanksgiving under the cover of darkness.
Days later Hillary Clinton flew into Baghdad during daylight hours and the right wing crybabies called her every name in the book.
John Kerry is going to Iraq and the right wingers are crying about that too.

You ask a question which requires an answer derived from history.
Bush and the neo-conservatives have depended on the failure of the American educational system, in concert with a media that is owned by massive conglomerates and a political system that utilizes deceit and deception (and outright slander) in order to pass its message on to the people.
Poorly educated individuals, with no ability to analyze material in an objective and logical sense, are prone to simply accepting what their leaders tell them.
Without these, or conversely with a well educated, thinking populace, Bush would have been impeached by now, and would at a minimum (along with Cheney) have been removed from office, if not actually imprisoned for treason.
That our soldiers have suffered and died at the behest of this administration may amount to the greatest tragedy in all of American history... one that makes me cry at times, as I read the death tolls, and the 'rationale' for the war.
What the Bush administration has done will be found, I suspect, to be the greatest crime in all of American history... and our greatest tragedy...

We had an election in 2004. The choices were a Texas cowboy vs. a Massachusetts stuffed shirt. The cowboy won. Deal with it.

Why not. We presume to pass judgment on issues we know nothing about. Do you really truly know what is going on?
These people, the president, Hillary, and the others, went there to visit the troops for Christmas on separate trips. Bob Hope used to do this when he was alive.

I'm guessing that your president has agenda other than the one he shows to the general public, and that there are people who benefit from that agenda. Worse, I'm guessing that there are people that APPROVE the blood shed. Soldiers are meant to protect their country and nobody complains about that. But, when it comes to starting war under false pretexts to further OTHER agendas, you lose your support and in the soldiers's cases, lives.
In my opinion, the war on terror cannot be won by simple combat anymore. You have to stop the money flow that aids terrorists. It is well known that people in Saudi Arabia support terror. Did you ever hear of sanctions against Saudi Arabia? No! Did you hear that your president demanded Arabian sheikhs to do something to stop that money flow? No.
When I say I am against American policies, people on various boards blame me for being anti-American. I am not. I can symphatize with the soldiers that fight in Iraq and their families that they have left in US. As I always say. You have just one vote to have your say in the democratic process. But who knows? Maybe enough one votes will help you get an administration that thinks of you as much as the oil.
