Those could be just fatty deposits or she could be getting close to going into heat if she is not desexed. Males have a protruding penis that is clearly visible when you roll them on their backs. Unlike dogs, a cats penis is closer to the backend rather than more forward. It looks like a ball or nub. Females will have 2 holes in the rear end where males have one. HTH!
Here's a diagram to give you a better idea of what I mean:

The explanation of the upside down exclamation point is perfect. The other way we tell people is that both sexes have a rectum (obviously) but a female will have a teardrop shaped opening very close to the rectum, a male will have a perfectly round opening with definite space between the two openings.

(i dont think male cats wee from their penis) I don't know what planet he lives on, but females only have "2 holes", and if male cats don't wee from their penis, I need a refresher in biology and anatomy. ALL male animals urinate through their penis, DUH!!!

It's really not that hard to tell, you make it sound like this kitten is 3 days old in which case you shouldn't have taken it away from it's mother. If your having such a problem figuring this out, 2 things...take it to the vet and ask or wait a couple of more weeks at which point even you should be able to tell.

If it is still young the easiest way to tell is lift up the tail if it is a semi-colon : it is a boy, if you have an upside down exclamation point it is a girl. The scrotum can take time to develop and the testicles take time to descend...so looking for the punctuation marks is the easiest.

To put it simply...a female cats' vagina will be close to her anus. In a male cat, his sheath will be further apart (there will appear to be a gap, and it is, essentially, the case, as this is where the testicles will descend).

Wish I had known this stuff last week when I got my kitty! We thought "she" was a "he" cause she's orange and most orange kitties are boys, but when we took her to the vet the next day, we found out it was a girl! Sometimes it can be hard to tell! However, the name still stuck, so I'll have a girl kitty named Hobbes.

Please see links below, they will give you a better idea. Basically there are two orifaces for a female and it's pretty obvious. Males have a little bit extra :)
