Sitting here watching Rachel Ray....she's so down to earth and her cooking is something anyone can do. I find Martha to be boring and kinda snooty. Martha's recipes, IMO, tend to be too difficult and complicated. HOWEVER....I am interested in hearing what others think.

I agree with you Rachel Ray is much warmer and easier going, she isn't as sooty as Martha Stewart.

I have never been a big fan of Martha, but she does do some interesting projects.

The way I see it, Rachel Ray is a little too hyped-up and excited; she's all over the place - I can see how people would find her "better" than Martha Stewart. However, the latter is more calm and is far more easy to follow. The two have different complexities when it comes to their recipes - they are different cooks after all. A friend of mine thought "no one can do what Rachel Ray is doing right now. She's a liar! It won't take me only one hour to do all that she has done." In a way, I find that a little true: she makes things seem far easier than how they seem. I think it's easier to go step by step with Martha.

It looks like I'm the only one so far that would vote for Martha. I like Martha's calm manner and it's fun to try some of her more sophisticated recipes. There is no doubt that Rachel Ray has very good recipes but her voice and chatter makes me a nervous wreck . Sorry to disagree with so many.

Ray tends to use some ingredients that are hard to come by... Martha is a bit pompous but she uses things that i normally have around the house.

Martha Stewart is an elitist shrew who makes money on a show where she doesn't do ANYTHING but get in front of the camera. Someone else does all the show planning, prep. & research.

Rachel Ray is good, I like her, but I don't watch those types of shows unless there is nothing else on. And even if it was the only show on t.v. I STILL WOULD NOT WATCH MARTHA STEWART!!!!

rachael makes better food that is not so complicated and has too many ingredients. she's kind of like the every day girl. Which is what I can relate to. Martha is great at household ideas for things like organization, gardnening, cleaning, etc. Very technical. I like them both for very different reasons. I prefer Martha's magazine to Rachael's. Martha's has tons of useful info and projects. Rachaels reminds me of marie claire merged with cooking magazine. Contains stuff I can get elsewhere.

I have been an avid rachael fan for years, but lately just cannot stand her. it is almost like she turned up the perky meter and is trying WAY TO HARD to impress us. And if I hear YUM-O and EVOO one more time I am going to scream.

for serious cooking Martha I find Rachel's menus to be boring and not at all challenging,
For serous loving Rachel - There is something about a well padded dark haired woman.

Youre comparing beer to champagne!! Although Martha's Stewart's recipes are difficult and often require things that you won't have in your house typically-ex- parchment paper. Martha's
recipes are elegant and classy. She does everything to the detail
-garnish/ presentation. Her recipes are for a certain following-
she uses expensive produce, meats--you can't go the regular grocery store and find the things she calls for in her recipes
You have to go to gourmet markets, whole foods, farmer's markets, speciality stores
Rachel is down to earth and bubbly but her recipes are for everyday people who can go the regular grocery store and cook things w/ little prep and cook time. No fuss get in the kitchen and cook.
I have made some of Martha's recipes and they are time consuming but delish!! Imagine peeling the leaves off of 2 lbs of brussel sprouts!!!
