I had some maple syrup part used on a shelf and next time i went to use it some months i think there was a sludge of something nasty greenish across the top.
As yours is refrigerated you may be ok there. Syrup is mostly sugar and water so any nasties would love to live in it but i guess if it looks ok you may be alright

The only time that I have ever seen maple syrup go bad there was a thick green mold growing across the top of the syrup. Otherwise I've never seen it go bad, and we don't even refrigerate it.

It was probably still good because maple syrup has a high sugar content (though this is natural sugar) and sugar is a natural conservative. And, because it was still unopened and in a cool place, it is likely that it was still good. The only thing it may have lost is taste. Don't worry!

it's fine, i've never heard of syrup going bad. but if it did, you would just know. it would be an even thicker consistency or discolored or whatever. for the most part, when things go bad, you can tell as long as your cautious about it like taste testing or paying attention to the look or consistency.

It's probably fine, unless you contaminated it. It might tast funny, since it might absorb some flavours from its neighbors. Make sure its not bubbly or has mold. The high sugar content helps preserve it, that is if its not water down.

normally i would say it's probably still good since it's all mostly sugar, but you might not want to take a chance if the date is 6 months past the expiration. a new bottle might ease your concerrns. good luck.
