It is genetic for purposes of perpetuating the species - like when roosters strut around in front of the hens. They are hoping a femal with pick him to procreate.

Peace!

It is like survival of the fittest.

Biologically speaking, we have the instinct to choose the best mate by way of impressing someone hoping we can win them and pass on our genes to (or simply to feed our lust). It is common in all animals.

This is so basic.

Think of the world as a huge olympics. We all compete. We want to get the best among the best. It is human nature. Some of us may choose not to join the competition because we feel it is not the way to go. Same thing as other people deciding not to join any sports because they prefer other less competitive activities.

There are so many correlations we can discuss in here.

There is nothing wrong if you don't want to go at length impressing someone. Some people love to be with less competitive ones.

It's more of flaunting what qualities you already have, not becoming someone you're not. You use those qualities to let the other sex know that you're interested and that you are 'better' than everyone else they might be interested in. Otherwise, how does anyone get noticed?
