yes. When your mind focuses on a particular location you become more aware of all sensations originating from that point. Pain feels more intense.
Do this. Take your finger and quickly poke yourself in the forehead without thinking about it.
Now slowly poke your self in the forehead again in the same spot and focus on the spot you want your finger to contact.
You should feel an intense tingling that gets worse the closer your finger gets to the impact point as you brace for impact.

If that body part is in pain and you focus on it, yes the pain will seem to increase. And if something startles you, for a second you will forget about the pain.
