I would say just the opposite. Hot showers open up your pores and really helps to clean them out. Not to mention that soap works better with warmer water--it lathers better. As far as better skin and hair....its mostly nutrition/predisposition and not so much the environment. Sure the weather plays a role, but how much time do people actually spend exposed to adverse weather conditions?

showers are not harmful. Almost everyone takes one everyday.
Showers can damage your skin only if the water is too hot for your skin, in which case the skin will blister.
Use a good moisturising cream after a shower or use a moisturising soap, one with conditioners.
For your hair, apply oil to your hair 1 hour before you take a shower. Rinse it off with any shampoo. Your hair will be silky, smooth, shiny and free of dandruff and whatever else.. coconut oil works best...

That's true, it can damage your skin. You should moisturize a heap if you have dry skin, and eat lots of fruit, vegetables and drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. Use a soap-free shower gel or bar. Don't buy into a lot of marketing, sometimes that can make your skin worse. Also, if you are going out into the sun, wear sunscreen. If nothing improves, then go see your local doctor.

True. Hot showers dry out your skin and makes your hair dull. You should always rinse your hair with cool water, it will make it shiny. You can improve the health of your hai by using deep conditioners, not brushing your hair when it soaking wet and getting reqular rims. You can improve your skin by using lotion when you get out of the shower.

Hot showers, being unnatural, do have a negative impact on skin and hair.
The more 'natural' you can be with your skin, hair and everything else, the better your outward appearance.
Cold water (which I hate...) is best, as its most natural... this combined with the natural oils in ones diet is the best bet for healthy skin and hair... but its not necessarily comfy... at least not to me.

it could happen.
when you take a shower your pores open from the hot moisture in the air so it could dry them out.
I'd try using a clensing srub/wash in the shower and then putting on a light moisturizer after.
I know it might sound like the lotion might clog up your pores but it actually doesn't. it lets your pores breath and gives them moisture that they need so they won't make oil to make up for the moisture you need.
wow i got off topic
hope this helps!

You shouldn't take showers with water that's too hot, because it damages your skin, but I bet you won't take cold showers in December!!!

The hotter the water, the more damage it does to your skin.
When drying, don't scrub with a towel. If you insist on using a towel, dab. Also (and I know this sounds gross), dermatologists recommend that you don't use soap. It's true... just ask one!
Instead, just use soap on the essentials. Comedian George Carlin summed it up nicely by calling it a "Hooker's Bath". Clean only your Armpits, ***hole, crotch, and teeth.
